Once again, our town is a target of out-of-state industrial developers. This time three warehouses are being proposed on Depot St. If the plans are accurate, there appear to be loading docks for up to seventy tractor-trailers. Each loading dock accommodates multiple tractor-trailers throughout the day. These warehouses will be operating seven days a week. In addition to the current traffic congestion on Depot St, South Main St, and Hartford Ave, adding traffic created by hundreds of trucks entering and exiting three additional large warehouses will result in a disastrous outcome. Depot St alone is not suitable for large-scale and continuous truck traffic.

To make matters worse, the intersections at Depot St and Hartford Ave, as well as Depot St and South Main St, will become a complete traffic nightmare. While an argument in favor of these warehouses could be to install traffic lights at both ends of Depot St, it is important to remember traffic lights reduce accidents, not traffic.

For many, these warehouses are in extreme proximity to residential homes, which would be subject to unsightly buildings, trucks, floodlights, and unreasonable noise.

We believe entering into an agreement with The Wozniak Law Group, P.C., to represent the interests of us residents, since we are often overlooked, is the best course of action.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help with attorney fees. The initial goal was to raise $3,000 for the retainer. Thanks to the community, we have reached that goal! After attending the initial meeting, the Planning Board informed the community that the process could take up to a year before a conclusion is reached. This will take our time, voices, legal representation, and money to ensure developers do not turn our town into a breeding ground for traffic, unsightly buildings, noise, and litter.  Do not underestimate what we as a community can do when we gather together and speak as one.

If we band together, our voices will be heard, and we can defeat this. The town of Holliston recently defeated an Amazon warehouse proposal by collectively opposing it.

Remember we are stronger in numbers and complacency will most certainly result in decisions we will regret and can’t be undone!

Attached are the plans as proposed and a current video of the tractor-trailers that block traffic every day on Depot St.
