Help Black household escape racist landlord

This is the second gofundme I’ve had to post this month. July has been incredibly unstable for me and my roommates as I’m sure it’s been for us all.

I crowdsourced 1500 to pay my rent/bills this month until my unemployment was reinstated. I found out today that has happened and i appreciate everyone so much for helping me survive up til now.

My current situation is more dire than before and despite my embarrassment i think it best to be transparent about me and my roomies living situation.

On July 7th my landlord said he would mail us a new lease to resign for a year, he then sold our building on the 13th and both he and the new landlord never told me or my Roomies of this transaction also we were notified on July 20th that we would not be able to renew our lease and needed to be out by the 31st (Texas has laws that state we are to be given 60 days notice)
This is racial discrimination by our landlord because the white tenants in the adjacent unit of our duplex were given a few months of notice of the potential sale of the building, were relocated to another property under our landlord’s ownership, and had movers paid for by the landlord.

They are trying to force us out on the streets and we are waiting for our landlord to sign the lease termination agreement extension to August 8th but he still hasnt signed it so we are worried they will take legal actions against us before because we arent technically being evicted but our lease term and we have not been given proper notice of renewal refusal. We’ve been dealing with so much mental anguish and trauma from the lack of maintenance and regard as tenants (never exterminated for rats like we asked, never fixed our kitchen light or repainting our walls, our dryer has been broke since June) We feel unsafe living here and the new landlord has made it unlivable for us (they have started insanely loud, invasive construction on the unit below that starts at 9am) and we’ve been threatened they will only “get louder cause they want y’all out”

We are asking for this money because we last minute need to safely move. We need this money to secure a hefty deposit at a place we’ve already applied , moving fees and to help transition us into paying substantial amount more per month rent.

Time is crucial! we have 8 days until we need to be out of this apartment and into a new one. It’s extremely overwhelming but me and my household of black primarily lgbtqia friends appreciate your support immensely.
