Dear Community,

First, we are being careful to not expose this family to more publicity than they already have endured, so we are leaving out some critical identifying information. Please be mindful that there is a minor involved at the center of this campaign, and privacy is important.

We are reaching out with a heartfelt plea for support and solidarity for Anne. Her child, Luna, bravely identifies as transgender (and has since she was 3). Anne has been fighting tirelessly since 2018 for Luna’s right to live authentically. As parents, our primary goal is to ensure our children's safety, happiness, and right to self-expression. Anne is no different.

Our community is now facing a critical legal battle to protect transgender healthcare rights from unjust threats and challenges in California. Luna is now in puberty. Anne is asking a Family Court to grant her the right to make medical decisions about gender-affirming care for her daughter unilaterally. Over the years, Luna’s father's parental rights have been incrementally curtailed due to his non-compliance with court orders and emotional neglect of his children. He has not visited them in over a year despite having the right to do so. The only right he still holds is the ability to stop Anne from seeking gender-affirming care for Luna. Luna’s father is a vocal and vindictive anti-transgender crusader. He has appeared on well over 50 far-right talk shows and podcasts, raising over $300,000 for his legal expenses through the continued public exploitation of his child's pain.

Anne is asking the Family Court for the right to make these medical decisions for and with Luna. The father and his legal team have convinced the court to stage a five-day hearing on the appropriateness of gender-affirming healthcare for minors. All other matters of parental rights division will also be finalized. Unfortunately, the legal process to secure Luna’s medical care has proven to be a significant financial burden. Legal fees are mounting, and Anne needs your help to ensure Luna receives the medical care she deserves.

A summary of legal actions:

1. Annulment for Fraud (by Father) and child custody case:

October 2016. Standard possession. Legal rights shared.

2. Request for change in custody due to non affirming parent:

October 2019. Jury ruled 11/12 in favor of Mother. Judge gave 50/50 custody (after parents complete education about how to treat their children) and only shared medical decision making.

3. Request for enforcement of orders, change in custody:

May 2020 to present. Judges have ruled that counseling was necessary, added a counselor, restricted Father's possession to supervised visits only (for not following court orders in the best interest of the children), limited Father's legal rights to make decisions and allowed Mother to move to California. Case was transferred to California in November 2023.
