Protect local food security and small farms
At Yellow House farm we save our own seeds, raise our own animals, grow hundreds of crops, and pick everything by hand. We are certified organic and believe in natural, sustainable, and ethical agriculture.
We want to serve beautifully crafted dishes right beside our gardens at our Sunflower Cafe. Our chefs have been working hard and the Cafe is ready to open.
We’ve worked closely with our City since October to make sure our Cafe is safe and in order. But we’ve been waiting a long time for the City of Maple Ridge to permit our structurally engineered and inspected gazebos. They won’t let us open, even if we don’t use them, and they won’t tell us why.
Local farming is important to our community, our community is very important to us, and we support our local farmers. Food security is more important now than it has ever been, and under the Farm Practices Protection Act every farm has the provincially protected right to retail their farm goods. But instead of supporting our small farm, the City of Maple Ridge keeps telling us we have no rights and our farm is not protected.
Help us feed the community and protect local food security by buying a gift certificate, donating to our farm, and joining us when we’re open!
