Protect Lusby's Charm: Stop Overdevelopment

Save Lusby, Inc is a volunteer, community-driven, non-profit advocacy group for Lusby, Maryland. Sitting in the smallest county in Maryland. Our mission is dedicated to preserving the unique character, natural beauty, and small-town spirit of Lusby. We stand united in our efforts to prevent the construction of large-scale apartment developments that threaten our environment, infrastructure, and quality of life. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration with local leaders, we strive to protect Lusby's heritage and foster responsible growth that respects the needs and values of our residents.

On July 9, 2024, the citizens of Lusby were informed of an approved plan to build a 276 aparment complex, disturbing 31 acres of land using an questionably authorized Memorandum of Understanding and approval process. The plan was approved by Calvert County Planning Commission on August 21, 2024 and only allows residents 30 days to appeal.

Citizens of Lusby met on September 5, 2024 to organize a community advocacy group and take action to file against the plan. An appeal must be filed by September 20, 2024 to properly begin the legal process to fight these plans.

FUNDS DONATED WILL BE APPLIED TO THE ONE TIME FEE CERTIFYING SAVE LUSBY, INC AS WELL AS THE RETAINER, AND ONGOING ATTORNEY FEES DURING THE APPEAL AND LAWSUIT PROCESS. NO BOARD OF DIRECTORS FROM SAVE LUSBY, INC WILL BE PAID A SALARY AND ARE WORKING PRO BONO FOR THIS APPEAL.
