Protect Manitoba's Aquifer from Silica Sand Mining
Donation protected
Hi my name is Don Sullivan and I am the spokesperson for What The Frack Manitoba (WTFMB), a small not-for-profit group started in late 2018, comprising of a few dedicated but highly effective volunteers, that have been monitoring closely two proposed silica sand mine development projects slated for production in Manitoba.
WTFMB is now preparing for round two in our bout with CanWhite Sands Corp. (CWS) proposed silica sand mine, that would extract some 1.3 million tonnes of silica sand a year, employing an unconventional mining method of literally sucking the silica sand from deep within a major aquifer.
This unconventional mining method could very well pose a serious threat to the aquifer in Southeastern Manitoba, that supplies communities in the region with their source of drinking water.
Before CWS silica sand mine can become fully operational, the company must first submit their mine plan, its unconventional mining method and related mining activities for review and approval by the government of Manitoba under the Manitoba Environment Act.
WTFMB is now raising the necessary funds to effectively prepare for our participation in this review and approvals process, and to implement a communication plan that provides the general public with timely information related to this proposed silica sand mine and the company's unconventional mining method .
WTFMB is not a registered Canada Revenue Agency charitable organization, so we are unable to solicit funds from foundation sources or provide tax receipts for your contribution.
But we do rely and depend on your kind individual contributions, big or small as every dollar counts, to help us achieve the goals we have set for our group to effectively participate in the government of Manitoba's review and approval process of CWS silica sand mine, its unconventional mining method and their mining related activities and to make sure the public is well informed every step of the way.
