PROTECT OUR KIDS - Stop the Costco Gas Station Relocation

Help Us Protect Our Preschools & Our Community
We need your help to protect the children and families in our Venice community. A proposed relocation and expansion of the Culver City Costco gas station places it alarmingly close to two preschools, Sol y Luna Montessori and Morning Glory Preschool. This move poses serious health risks, particularly from benzene exposure—a known carcinogen—endangering the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community. The World Health Organization (WHO), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recognize benzene as a hazardous air pollutant and known carcinogen. These organizations emphasize that children are particularly vulnerable to benzene exposure due to their developing systems and greater relative intake of air.
The Culver City Planning Commission granted Costco an EXEMPTION from environmental review. We hired a law firm as well as an environmental consultant to fight this decision and demand a comprehensive Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to ensure the safety of our community before this project moves forward. Your contribution will help us:
• Help fund expert environmental and legal consultations.
• Mobilize community outreach and awareness efforts.
• Advocate for rigorous environmental accountability.
Every dollar brings us closer to ensuring that our children can grow and learn in a safe environment. Together, we can make a difference.
Donate now and help us protect the future of our community!
