Pacific View Neighborhood Association - Legal Fund

Donation protected
The "Castle Walls" along Pacific View Drive are one of our neighborhood's oldest and most visible landmarks. A developer has proposed to tear down those walls, extract up to 4,000 cubic yards of rock from 7007 Pacific View Drive, and build an 8,000 square foot mansion. The excavation, dump trucks, construction activity, erosion, noise, dust, and closed streets threaten to damage the quality of life on Pacific View Drive and neighboring streets for years.

We have a brief window in which to seize the advantage and stop or delay this project. Dozens of neighbors turned out for the Mulholland Design Review Board meeting, where we won an initial victory.

The stakes and complexity get higher as the case goes to the Director of City Planning and to the South Valley Area Planning Committee. It is essential that the neighborhood have a say with SVAPC, and we believe that a legal team with experience in these cases is the best way to achieve our goals. An announcement of the initial decision could happen at any time, and we must be ready.

A coalition of neighbors has already formed to create the Pacific View Neighborhood Association in order to retain the law firm of Luna & Glushon. Those closest to the proposed construction have pledged more than $7,000 to kick off the campaign, but we may need as much as $14,000. Your donations will help in this fight. And the formation of a neighborhood association will mean that we can get the attention of our elected officials and city hall about this and other issues vital to the community.

100% of the money raised here will go to the legal fund. Neighbors have already committed to covering any GoFundMe fees and other administrative costs. Donations of any size are appreciated! We are much stronger as a group.

Stay tuned for information about a wonderful mixer and fundraiser being held to meet your neighbors, educate one another about this battle, and discuss what a Pacific View Neighborhood Association can achieve.
