Protect Seniors: Fund MHR4C for a nonprofit status

Hello, my name is Suzette Gilbreth. I am raising funds so I can turn my organization, Manufactured Home Residents for Change (MHR4C), into a 501c4 nonprofit. Our mission is: 'We are dedicated to providing services to seniors living in mobile home parks through support to manage positive landlord and tenant relationships with effective communications, advocacy to change laws that stabilize better living conditions, and with empowerment through education regarding your tenant rights and your landlord's legal responsibilities.' I need money to pay to file all of the necessary paperwork and any and all immediate expenses.

I began doing this volunteer work in June of 2023 in our 55+ mobile home park. Without notice, our lot rents were increased by a substantial amount, causing all of the senior residents/homeowners to lose thousands of dollars of equity in their homes. This injustice raised a red flag, so a few residents formed a committee to research the mobile home park industry, learn about the property management company that raised our rent, and study the Arizona Mobile Home Park Residential Landlord and Tenant Act. We gathered facts and had a professional market report compiled that compared our market values with the surrounding mobile home parks' market values that we were compared to. We had a meeting with upper management of the property management company and presented our findings to them. Thankfully, upon comparison of our data to theirs, they decided to reverse the recent lot rent increase back to the previous lot rent amount. Due to this experience, along with the research completed, we realized there are many more issues to deal with when living in a 55+ mobile home park. However, our committee separated shortly after this.

Following this separation, the work of Manufactured Home Residents for Change (MHR4C) evolved and will continue to help as many seniors as possible living on fixed incomes who reside in mobile home parks. We are collaborating with other nonprofits across the country and plan on extending our reach to help as many seniors as we can across America.
