Advocate for Responsible Developments in SYV - Stop Wildwood

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far in our fight against the Wildwood Project. Without your help, we couldn’t have made it this far in our efforts to protect Solvang from irresponsible overdevelopment. Your generosity and commitment have been the backbone of our fight, but we must do more.

The City of Solvang is not listening to us. Despite our best efforts to work collaboratively and express the overwhelming opposition from the great people of Solvang and the Santa Ynez Valley, the City continues to process the development application for the Alamo Pintado Apartments (Wildwood Project) as currently proposed.

This oversized 100-unit project is being fast-tracked under Builder’s Remedy laws, ignoring the General Plan approved by the City and dismissing community input. While we support responsible development on this site, this “monster project” violates local zoning standards, overburdens the area, and disregards Solvang’s identity as a safe, charming, and sustainable community.

A Traffic and Safety Crisis in the Making

The proposed site—located at the intersection of Old Mission Drive and Alamo Pintado Road—is already a dangerous, congested area.

- Traffic Overload: This intersection sees high volumes of vehicles daily, as Alamo Pintado connects to Highway 246, a critical corridor for residents, tourists, and commuters. It’s already a bottleneck, with long delays and unsafe conditions for drivers and pedestrians alike.

- Strain from 100 New Units: Adding hundreds of new residents and their vehicles will make an already difficult situation far worse, increasing congestion and safety risks. The lack of adequate planning for traffic flow and road improvements threatens to create a crisis at one of Solvang’s busiest intersections.

- Emergency Response Delays: With traffic at a standstill, emergency vehicles may struggle to navigate this area, jeopardizing the safety of everyone in our community.

Why We’re Fighting

We are not against development. We’re against irresponsible development that ignores the General Plan, zoning laws, and the voices of residents. The Santa Ynez Valley Citizens Council (SYVCC) supports a balanced, thoughtful approach to growth, where developers respect the approved General Plan and work with—not against—the community.

The General Plan calls for high-density housing on 2.5 acres of the 5.5-acre property, leaving room for open space and community-focused design. Instead, this project proposes to build on nearly the entire site, intensifying traffic and safety issues while disregarding the area’s character.

How Your Support Helps

Your contributions have already allowed us to make significant progress, but we need your help to take our advocacy further. Additional funds are urgently needed to:

- Hire Legal Representation: To ensure the developer follows the General Plan and zoning laws.
- Engage Traffic and Safety Experts: To provide data-driven analysis on the project’s impacts and propose sustainable solutions.
- Continue Outreach: To amplify our voices and show the City of Solvang that this project, as proposed, is not what our community wants or needs.

Together, We Can Make a Difference

This fight is about more than just one project—it’s about standing up for the integrity of our community, our safety, and our future. Solvang deserves a development approach that respects its history, its people, and its carefully crafted vision for growth.

We are deeply grateful for the support we’ve received so far. But now, more than ever, we need your help to push back against a City that isn’t listening and ensure that responsible development, not overdevelopment, defines Solvang’s future.

Please donate today and share this campaign with your family, friends, and neighbors. Together, we can protect the Solvang we love.

Thank you,
