Protect the Future of Oneonta's Youth

Hi! My name is Eliana, and I’m part of the Oneonta Teen Center. The organization that previously funded us has decided to withdraw support and funding. The teen center is part of a building generously donated to the OTC~ by the city. We are a center for recovery and support of youth with any sort of desire to be here. We cater(ed) to those with mental health issues and abusive backgrounds. This place has been a home to me and others that previously did not have a home as full of love and joy as this teen center. When ours started, we were already given only half of the budget given to all other teen centers. Then, it was split to a quarter. We’ve been struggling to scrape together funds for this beautiful place. Any support would be a major contribution to the betterment of our youth. Supporting youth creates stable adults in this uncertain world. Tonight, we were told that we would be shut down. We have hope through our tears. Many of our members would not be alive if it weren’t for the soul connections made here. It is impossible to fully describe how much this place means. This youth center is struggling to the point where our voices must be heard. While this recovery center does keep members anonymous for safety reasons, we have decided to speak up anyways to save our better home.
