Protect the Future of the Matsés and Their Sacred Medicine!

The Matsés community of the Peruvian Amazon, guardians of the ancestral medicine known as Kambo, are facing a crisis!

Until recently, the community could share their sacred medicine with the world. But now, shipping routes have been shut down, first by Peru’s postal system (Serpost), and now by Colombian authorities as well. Their medicine is being confiscated. Orders have been canceled. Refunds have been issued. And now, they can no longer sell the medicine that supports their livelihood!

To have legal permission to ship Kambo, the Peruvian government is requiring them to pay for a costly permit and environmental study to certify their land as a legal source of the medicine. The total cost? 30,000 soles (around $8,000 USD), an impossible sum for a remote Indigenous community with limited access to economic resources.

If this situation is not resolved, both facilitators and those who receive Kambo for healing will lose access to this sacred medicine.
