Protect The Medicine Shoppe: Donate for Safety

We are The Medicine Shoppe in Orinda. The past 4 months have been a nightmare for us. We have been burglarized 4 times; once in April, May, July, and August. All have been while we were closed at around 3 to 5:00am, so thankfully no one is physically hurt. Yes, our alarm system went off every time, but the burglars were in and out in 2 minutes each time and the police were too late by the time they got there. Yes we have cameras, but the burglars are covered with hoods and masks, and the vehicles they use are stolen. At this point we have to take measures into our own hands to secure our pharmacy. After the burglary in April, we added an additional deadbolt to the front door, added a film to our windows, and bought a safe to keep our schedule II controlled medications in. Even though our safe was bolted to the wall and floor, the burglars took the entire safe in May. In July, the burglars broke the front door glass to get inside. There wasn’t much to take, but the door has to be replaced. We no longer stock schedule II medications anymore. In August, they kicked through the boarded door, and took cash from the register. Our insurance mostly covered the cost of drugs that were stolen and some repairs, but will not cover additional security measures. The funds will be used towards a new door and metal bars we plan to install. We are thankful for any amount you can donate. We are the only independent pharmacy in the Lamorinda area and we hope we can stay open so we can continue to serve this community.
