Protecting People's Rights to Access Abortion

In a 6-3 vote along ideological lines, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of a strict Mississippi abortion law. It also overturned Roe v. Wade, the 50-year-old case that was the basis for legal abortion across the United States.

 

Despite this ruling, people need and deserve access to safe abortions in this country. Millions of people will now be forced to travel hundreds of miles to a haven state or face forced pregnancy. For some, forced pregnancy will result in harmful and expensive complications. Some will die. We need your help.

 

With a coalition of friends, we are pledging to match total donations up to $8,000 to pro-choice organizations or candidates of your choice, ultimately unlocking $16,000 in donations to the pro-choice movement. This match is supported by:

Here is how to unlock this match!

 

 

 

1. Donate to a pro-choice entity - it can be a local abortion fund, a pro-choice candidate, or an organization working to pass pro-choice legislation. Please know that the big name brand organizations will be flooded with donations and do not need our investment as much as smaller, localized organizations. But any assistance to any pro-choice entity will help. A list of ideas is below.

 

 

2. Screen shot your donation and send it to me. Your donation will unlock the match money which will go to a variety of pro-choice organizations important to us (see list below). You can also send your screenshot to one of the other match sponsors. If you already donated since the ruling, those count!

 

 

3. If donating is not in the cards, please pass this website to your friends and family.

Brigid Alliance - The Brigid Alliance is a referral-based service that provides travel, food, lodging, child care and other logistical support for people seeking abortions. They prioritize clients beyond 15 weeks of pregnancy for whom it’s generally more expensive and harder to find a provider near home.

 

National Abortion Fund - The National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) works with more than 80 local abortion funds across the country and distributes money according to level of threat to abortion access in that area of the country. Every dollar donated to NNAF goes straight to a local fund.

 

Run for Something - They provide a safety net for new and exciting progressive leaders — at all stages of their journey — helping them run efficient, strategic, grassroots, driven campaigns while feeling supported throughout the process.

 

Repro Legal Defense Fund - The Repro Legal Defense Fund covers bail and funds strong defenses for people who are unjustly targeted by police or prosecutors for ending their own pregnancy — that is, for self-managing abortion, outside of a clinical setting.
