Protection and Housing for Arianna Travaglini
Donation protected
*On Monday June 15th Arianna settled this matter out of court. As per the conditions of her settlement, she must remove her abuser's name from all prior websites/social media/etc, including this campaign. Therefore this campaign has edited her abuser's name to ANONYMOUS.
Hey everybody. This is Haylie McGill, Arianna Travaglini’s partner. Many of you also know her as “Andre Shakti”. Arianna desperately needs your help. She has been forced into an unprecedented situation of financial and housing instability while fighting a court case over domestic abuse and she is seeking support from her community to survive this difficult time.
OUR GOAL
To permanently protect Arianna physically, emotionally, psychologically and financially from ANONYMOUS -- the owner of the property she resides and pays rent for -- as well as to buy out his mortgage and retain the home as her own, which fortunately the laws in Baltimore City support. If we are unable to raise enough money to buy the home Arianna currently lives in, the money we do raise will be applied to purchase a modest property for Arianna to live out the rest of her life in peace.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Since May 2019, Arianna has been an ongoing victim of emotional, psychological and financial abuse at the hands of the homeowner, ANONYMOUS, who in the past Arianna has known as a friend, metamour and ex partner. There are scores of personal witnesses as well as an enormous paper trail documenting these incidents. Although we cannot publicly speak further to his pattern of behavior due to the now-active legal case, folks may contact Arianna privately for the details of these circumstances. Suffice to say Arianna has lived much of past year of her life in fear, afraid to come out more publicly about the treatment out of concern that there would be a retaliation from ANONYMOUS.
On Tuesday May 19th, 2020 Arianna called the police to her residence after a terrifying altercation with ANONYMOUS that I was also present for. This was the first and only time Arianna has ever summoned law enforcement. The intensity with which both myself and Arianna feared for our lives finally pushed her to act. A judge granted an emergency protective order against ANONYMOUS that evening, and on the morning of Thursday May 21st another judge passed a temporary protective order including a "stay away" order during a phone hearing. ANONYMOUS is currently not permitted to contact Arianna, abuse or threaten her, or step foot on their property until a court date set for July 16th, 2020 in which Arianna will be seeking a permanent protective order to ensure her continued safety. All of this is a matter of public record.
As a result of ANONYMOUS’s actions, Arianna has lost access to vital medications and grocery supplies. She is riddled with deep emotional pain and anxiety, barely sleeps, has constant paranoia and is afflicted by daily panic attacks that render her unable to cope or function. She speaks of suicidal ideations often and meanwhile has been forced to cut off her mental health services because she can no longer afford them.
Arianna is the hardest working person I know, and she must continue working diligently because she lost approximately 85% of her income due to COVID-19 and needs money now more than ever. This whole thing could not have happened at a worse time. Prior to March 2020 she made anywhere between $30-40,000 a year. Now she teaches twice-weekly sex education webinars that typically bring in between $40-100 per webinar and runs a twice-weekly virtual strip club that typically brings in between $70-$150 per shift in addition to running a weekly sex & relationship column that she is compensated $408/month through her Patreon. As a sex worker and educator who is an independent contractor with little-to-no proof of income available, Arianna is also unable to receive unemployment benefits through the State of Maryland.
I know it may be a simple solution for people to say “Why don’t you just leave the unsafe situation in your home”, but Arianna’s livelihood stems directly from the thousands of dollars in renovations she’s put into this specific property so her business can thrive. And unfortunately due to that, and the nature of the work she does it is not as easy for her to just up and move to a different housing situation as it may be for other people.
WHAT ARIANNA NEEDS
Full financial transparency is very important to Arianna. She currently has $5,000 in savings, $500 in her checking account and is still paying off her car loan as well as student loan debt. Her combined bills per month total incl. rent/mortgage payments total $2,068.00 and she has no access to other grants, trust funds, bonds, etc.
We are setting this GoFundMe goal for $25,000. Here is where those funds will go:
- App. $3,500 - $5,000 in lawyers' fees, $3,500 of which Arianna has already paid.
- App. $18,000 for a down payment to buy out ANONYMOUS’s mortgage OR -- depending on the result of July 16th's court decision -- for a down payment on another local property to finally secure safe, protected, stable housing for herself and her animals.
- App. $2,000 in temporary living assistance (helping with bills, increased costs of living due to vulnerable circumstances and increased mental health services)
THANK YOU for listening. THANK YOU for donating what you can. And THANK YOU for sharing this campaign far and wide in your networks. Let’s show up for Arianna like she’s been showing up for her communities for over a decade. If anyone has any further questions or a point of contact you can email me at [email redacted]
