Reinventing Ourselves to Make COVID-19 Face Shields

When Governor Cuomo asked NYC’s business community to reinvent ourselves during the COVID-19 pandemic by producing PPE for our healthcare workers, we at Atta Inc. were inspired to be part of the solution. We pivoted from fabricating custom resin projects in our West Chelsea studio to help fill the dire need for medical face shields to protect our dedicated doctors, nurses, ER crews and others working in NYC Hospitals. These heroes are endangering their lives every day, as they work to save others.


What We’re Doing

We put our heads together to create our face shield with the generous help of Budmen Industries, Rob Steiner of Roboto, Smooth-On, and ER doctors, who tested our prototype along the way. With their input, we now have a high-density face shield made with medical-grade materials that is protective, well-proportioned, lightweight, comfortable and reusable. As we developed our face shield design, we set up our GoFundMe effort to launch production. 

Thanks to your incredible generosity and faith in us – from across the country -- we have surpassed our initial goal of $15,000 for our first 1,000 face shields! We cannot thank you enough for your help; you are part of our team and our success.

We’ve been fabricating and delivering our face shields to hospitals throughout New York City daily, as we field calls for help. We've already delivered shields to:

When we arrive at hospitals with our shields, healthcare workers are ecstatic, and we’ve received requests for more.

What we’ve learned so far is that our small operation is effective, because it is nimble. It enables us to respond quickly and directly to requests from hospitals and their teams. We also now understand that we are filling a void in the City’s PPE supply chain.


Our Work is Not Over

To continue our efforts, we've launched a second round of fundraising, and now more than ever, we greatly need your support. Unfortunately, despite our repeated efforts, we’ve not been able to break through to secure a government contract. So, we are asking you to open your hearts and donate to this effort.

How You Can Help

Please give what you can. A contribution of $15 will produce one high-density, reusable shield for a hero on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle. A $45 gift produces 3 shields, $150 will produce 10 shields, and so on.

100% of donations will go directly to production and distribution of our face shields.
