The tranquility that is Lobo Canyon is literally about to come to a deafening halt. What you will hear below is the utter nonsense that Triunfo residents have been putting up with for more than 7 years.
This is from one wedding venue on September 30, 2017, it's not the exception but the norm - 75 to 100 nights a year, times multiple venues blaring simultaneously, while swelling our canyons four-fold, our resident population.
Until now, this activity has been forbidden on Lobo due to its A-1 zoning. Though, as you know, that hasn't prevented some from trying - think Lobo Castle.
Well now, the final draft of the new Santa Monica Mountain North Area Plan - Community Standards District, will open up all of Lobo Canyon to the same commercial activity and specifically "Special Event Venues," WEDDING Venues!
And it's not just the complete upheaval of our lives at stake, but maybe at the cost of our lives.
On the night after the Woolsey Fire so decimated our community, two Triunfo venues had weddings scheduled. One at the mouth of our community at the corner of our only escape hatch, Triunfo and Kanan. The other near the intersection of Triunfo and Lobo. Picture the chaos of evacuating while facing this.
Part of the plan encourages vans and buses. Really?
And we all know how crazy drivers can be when backed up, and then add in alcohol, a deadly combination.
What can you do? MOVE FAST as this is the proposed FINAL DRAFT. And the last Public Hearing to voice our objections is only days away.

The plan has been in the works for years with many delays, lulling many to sleep. THIS IS IT!
The current plan has been in place for 19 years. What emerges now will determine what out community will be for the next generation.

As for what the funds have been and will be used for:
Every dollar has been and will be used for the purpose of compensation to the law firm of Alpert, Barr & Grant a licensed “Government Affairs” firm, better know as lobbyists. They are retained on an hourly basis.
Their services include contacting and exchanging information with various county officials, elected, appointed and civil servants. The firm has spent considerably time educating county officials on the unique characteristics of Triunfo-Lobo Canyon and submitted proposed regulatory measures to protect our way of life in the Canyon. They represent our positions to all, advise on best courses of action and have arranged for three private meetings with these officials responsible for drafting the North Area Plan.
