Provide Clean Water to Children in The Gambia

My name is Fatoumata Williams, and I am a live-in caregiver for a senior citizen in Connecticut. This December, I am returning to my home country, The Gambia, for a one month visit after being away for ten years. I'm reaching out through GoFundMe with a heartfelt mission. I want to make a difference in the lives of children from my village, Kerr Mama, in the North Bank Division of The Gambia. I taught kindergarten at Little Bryn, a local nursery school, for twenty years, before coming to the United States.

In this beautiful part of our world, there are actually three nursery/primary schools where the young minds of our future gather to learn and grow. These children, aged between 5 and 15, embark on a challenging journey every day. They walk for more than a mile just to get access to clean water to drink while they are at school.

I believe that every child deserves clean, safe drinking water, no matter where they are. After an exhaustive and unsuccessful search for other resources and non-profit organizations, I have finally admitted to myself, "If not me, then who will help alleviate this difficult situation?" That's why I've set up this fundraiser. My goal is to raise $6,150.00 to have three borehole tanks installed in the village of Kerr Mama. These tanks will ensure a consistent supply of fresh, clean water for these young students.
