Provide Heat for Burnsville, NC Families in Crisis
Donation protected
The mountain town of Burnsville, NC was one of the communities hit the hardest by Hurricane when mud and rain swollen rivers tore down the mountain, filling homes in minutes, leaving no chance of escape. The number of missing and dead is climbing as bodies are recovered daily. Roads, vehicles, power lines, and businesses were completely wiped out as well.
The area is blue collar at best– and with many now without work, the situation is dire. FEMA and Samaritan's Purse and other charitable organizations are helping, but the need is outpacing the speed of provision– including, right now, HEAT. This week, temperatures in Burnsville fell below freezing.
Though repairs have begun, Duke Energy reports that because of the difficulty of reaching this area, the electrical network will need to be rebuilt. And it may take a very long time.
By THIS WEEKEND we are going to buy 100 Mr. Heater Buddies with adaptors to fit a 20 lb propane tank– enough to safely heat a small area of a home for up to a week. We will personally deliver them to Burnsville for distribution.
Will you consider a $150 donation to provide a heater and adaptor and a full propane tank to one home? Could you fund more? This is an emergency situation–and any amount you are able to help with is a blessing.
