Provide Historic Marker for Elvis Presley’s ranch
The Circle G Foundation with the incredible help of Elvis’ fans around the world has raised the money to provide a Historic Marker for the property that was Elvis Presley’s Circle G Ranch in Hornlake Mississippi. The property is listed on the National
Register Of Historic Places and has been since December 2019.
The Circle G Foundation is thrilled that Elvis fans
from all around the world who care about Elvis’ life and legacy have United to provide a Historic Marker for the ranch and in
doing so acknowledge and celebrate the ranch’s significance in
Elvis’ story and his link with the City of Horn Lake.
We believe Elvis fans will appreciate the opportunity to get
involved and in providing this Historic Marker, celebrate another
significant Elvis site.
The cost of providing a marker and pole is around £2,500 which we have raised (a large amount was given outside the go fund me page that is why it shows the target amount not reached) - THANK YOU There will be a small additional cost involved in the transportation, siting and erection
of the marker. Any additional money raised and not spent on the marker will be donated to charity and given in memory of Elvis
Presley and his charitable and humanitarian legacy.
PLEASE KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE YOUR DONATION WILL BE USED EITHER FOR THE MARKER OR GIVEN TO CHARITY IN ELVIS’ NAME.
We are in touch with the Horn Lake City Council and keep Mayor Latimer updated - he is delighted.
On April 16 2021 The Board of Trustees at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History approved our application’
This is the FIRST international application they have received for a State Historical Marker - another first for Elvis!
The order to manufacture the marker has been submitted.
We hope to have the marker in place by the end of 2021, Covid
permitting.
Since The Circle G Foundation began in 2010 we have been truly
grateful for the incredible support we have received from around
the world. This only goes to prove, if any proof were needed, that the magic of Elvis and his legacy is as strong as ever. As Elvis fans we want to do this for Elvis and his memory. The ranch was a very special place to Elvis at a particularly significant time in his life. And although he did not own it for a long time we have
documented evidence that right up until his passing in 1977 he
continued to refer to it as ‘his’ ranch and took friends and family tosee it. It is only right that there is a tangible, solid
acknowledgement of his time there. As time passes we are
increasingly in danger of losing the structures on the ranch
associated with Elvis. Having a historic marker would ensure that his time there is not forgotten or overlooked.
As Elvis fans let’s do this for him!
