Provide knickers to ladies who need them most

After volunteering at a women’s refuge local to me, I was inspired to start my own campaign called ‘Let’s Get our Knickers in a Twist’ in September 2022 which focuses on providing vulnerable women with clean new underwear. With the fabulous uprise of charity shopping and clothing donations, many women in need now have improved access to second-hand clothing; however, many people forget that the one item that charity shops cannot sell and charities cannot take second-hand donations of is underwear, due to personal hygiene reasons. There is consequently a dire deficiency of brand-new underwear available for women who need it the most and we are fighting for that access to underwear to be created.

My campaign accepts both donations of unused packaged underwear and monetary donations to spend on buying such. This platform is for the latter. The items are distributed to women’s refuge centres around the UK (and globally now!!) Due to global universities helping with our fundraising efforts, we have now been able to spread our pants power far and wide and have been able to donate to women’s refuge centres around the world. These centres help to provide recovery and support for vulnerable women who have been victims of addiction and domestic abuse, who are involved in sex work, and whom have been in contact with the criminal justice system- due to no fault of their own. Many of these situations lead to homelessness and these ladies have little to no access to new clothes or underwear.

The item we put on first in the morning and take off last at night, the item we wear to feel sexy or the item we wear to feel secure, the item we take completely and utterly for granted and always will, until we are without it. So let’s change that for our ladies and let’s get our knickers in a twist!
