Provide some financial relief for Ken and Wendell

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We're reaching out to you today to share the incredible journey of our beloved colleague, Ken Oreskovich, who has faced unimaginable challenges over the past few years. As many of you know, Ken has been a vital part of our Vancouver broadcast team, always bringing his passion, dedication and amazing skill to his work. However, his resilience is now being tested in ways we could never have anticipated.

For over two years, Ken has been supporting his partner, Wendell, as she bravely battled cancer and its subsequent recovery period. This journey has been heart-wrenching, with Wendell experiencing significant side effects from chemotherapy, including cognitive issues, trauma and serious dental issues. Then, last February, she had a life-threatening bout of pneumonia. While Ken has been her steadfast support, he has also been grappling with his own challenges.

In addition to the emotional toll of Wendell’s illnesses, Ken has been dealing with a family member struggling with substance abuse. This situation has added another layer of stress and heartache during an already difficult time.

Recently, Ken's health took a drastic turn. Over the past three months, he faced pneumonia twice and COVID-19, which has left him still suffering from Long COVID physical symptoms.

A month ago what he thought were lingering effects of Long COVID turned out to be a more serious condition: his left lung was filled with fluid. He was rushed to the hospital where he spent 19 grueling days undergoing tests, treatments, and ultimately surgery to repair the damage to his left lung. To add insult to injury Ken also needed some dental work while in the hospital to eliminate the threat of a blood infection, something that almost took his life a few years ago.

With all of this happening, Ken has been unable to work and had to miss major projects like the Paris Olympics, NHL, CFL, and MLS. The financial strain has been immense, adding to the physical and emotional burden he and Wendell are already shouldering.
We are starting this GoFundMe to provide Ken with some financial relief during this challenging time. Your contributions—no matter the amount—will go directly to Ken and Wendall, allowing him to focus on his recovery without the added worry of financial stress.

If you can spare a little or a lot, it would mean the world to Ken and help him regain his strength and peace of mind. Let’s come together, as only the broadcast community can, to support him at this difficult time.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
