Provide water for families in El Piño, Guatemala

The Rotary Club of Sneads Ferry, NC, Give and Teach of Pineville, NC (and Guatemala), and The Rotary Club of Guatemala City  are partnering to make a positive difference in the lives of the families in the Village of El Piño, Guatemala in the Department of Santa Rosa (about 1 hour and 15 minutes SE of Guatemala City, Guatemala) by providing clean, sustainable drinking water for approximately 4000 families. Each gift of approximately $25 can provide enough infrastructure to provide clean drinking water for one family.

 

Water is a basic necessity of life, and we have the opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of individuals and families residing in this community. We are fortunate to drink readily available water from the comfort of our own homes without worrying about its cleanliness. However, there are parts of the world where clean, safe, drinking water is not available to families. One such area is in El Pino. Not only do these families lack reliable access to clean water, but they also must take additional precautions such as boiling water to prevent medical issues from occurring. Community surveys recently showed that of 150 families represented at a community meeting, all of them needed access to clean water to replace rain water and unreliable non potable water sources.

 

The well is estimated to be up to 800 feet deep at the cost of approximately $125,000 USD and is located in the mountainous village. It is part of a master plan that will provide better education, healthcare, clean water, sustainable resources, vocational training and other essential humanitarian needs. We need your help to make our efforts go even further and quickly provide this necessity.
