Providing free deliveries for homebound neighbors.

COVID Help Nashville is a grassroots organization consisting of over 300 active volunteers striving to alleviate the burdens this pandemic has put on our homebound neighbors. We provide free deliveries of groceries and other needed supplies in an effort to mitigate the risk of exposure for our high-risk and homebound neighbors.
Our Story:
On March 16, we created an email address and posted a tweet . Our goal was simple - to help our neighbors get the supplies they need without having to expose themselves to COVID-19. The response was overwhelming and awe-inspiring. In the first 24 hours, we received over 100 messages from neighbors across Nashville, pledging their support and asking how they can help. Soon after, we received our first request for help. And then another. The requests have not stopped coming, and neither have the offers of help.
Since that initial tweet, our little community initiative has grown exponentially. Our network of volunteers is now over 300 strong. Over 300 healthy, compassionate neighbors who are ready to support their homebound neighbors by delivering groceries, picking up medication and supplies, and running other essential errands.
To date, we have been able to successfully get nearly 100 of our neighbors with the help they need without leaving their homes, but we need your help to make that number grow.
We are asking you to support our mission to help our most vulnerable population here in Nashville.
Our goal is to reach, support and protect every Nashvillian who is 65+, immunocompromised, suffers from health problems - not forgetting populations that are unevenly put at-risk, such as migrants, minorities, people with insecure housing, poor people, and disabled people.
To make that happen, we need to achieve the following:
Outreach / Marketing: We currently have more volunteers than we have requests coming in (#NashvilleStrong) and need to get our service in front of more people that need it. Outreach to the communities that need this service the most is top of the list. Advertising, printing for handouts and flyers, mailers, whatever it takes to reach our community and let them know this service is available.
Volunteer / Client Safety: Safety of our volunteers and those we are helping is a top priority. To make this operation as safe as possible, we need supplies like gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer. This item also includes the cost of background checks for our volunteers, to provide an additional layer of safety and reassurance to those we are serving.
Technology: As our service grows, so does the need to build out more technical infrastructure to support the scaling of our systems, ultimately allowing us to serve more of our neighbors. This includes web hosting, email servers, volunteer management systems, and mobile app development.
Relief Funding: Many of our neighbors have lost their jobs amidst this crisis and do not have enough money to pay for the basic necessities - groceries, medications, and essential supplies for their families. We are hoping to create an angel fund to provide basic necessities for those in need.
This operation is 100% volunteer run, so none of these funds will be used for wages. For accountability, we will be validating all of these expenses with receipts. Any surplus will go towards relief funding and building out a more robust system that can make our process more efficient and help with things like volunteer retention, request fulfillment, communication and transparency.
Thank you for your consideration in supporting our grassroots effort to serve the homebound community in Nashville. We are in this for the long haul, and we appreciate your support. #NashvilleStrong
