Supporting a Friend in Need

Hi, everyone! I am hoping you can help my friend, Jennifer. She was one of my very first pen pals when I was in elementary school. Even as a child, I knew she was a considerate, intelligent, hardworking person. She is a college graduate and has hopes of continuing her education someday—she is a chemist. Despite her best efforts, Jennifer is desperately in need of financial support right now. Without any family to depend on, she is in a very serious situation. Jennifer recently left an abusive marriage and is trying to survive on her own. She is currently homeless, living in a motel. Her car broke down and it can’t be fixed (she had to sell it for parts), so she is without transportation. The money she does make from a remote job is used for the motel fees and rides to the store to buy food. Jennifer has type 1 diabetes, like me. She has no insurance and pays out of pocket for her supplies and insulin. Due to multiple hospital stays, she has an outrageous amount of medical debt. Her credit score has been affected because of this, which makes finding shelter or transportation even more difficult. She has been turned away from shelters due to her medical needs, which is just unbelievable. She needs help and is trying

to take the steps necessary to rebuild her life, but continues to face obstacles. She’s days away from being on the streets without a vehicle. Please help if you can. Even a few dollars will add up and allow her to eat, pay for shelter, and begin to save for a vehicle. She deserves better than what life has dealt her. Thank you.
