Providing Support for Megan’s Medical Expenses

Hello, my name is Paula and I have been blessed and fortunate to call Carole Hoppe one of my closest friends for more than two decades. She is not only one of the best educators with whom I have had the privilege of working, but Carole is also one of the most caring, giving people I have ever known. To say Carole has experienced many devastating losses in her life would be an understatement; however, no matter what she is presented with in life, Carole approaches it with grace, faith, and strength.

Currently Carole is advocating for her sweet, beautiful Megan. Please read Megan’s journey through Carole’s words:

“My beautiful, sweet daughter, Megan, was a healthy 20 year old last year. In February, she was overcome with severe pain in both legs to the point that she can only walk with a cane short distances and usually needs a wheelchair. She cannot sleep due to the pain and I watch her daily with tears in her eyes, trying to concentrate and study through the pain. She also gets pain down her arms and in her fingers. We've done countless tests - bloodwork, MRIs, X-Rays, and have more tests scheduled. We've seen rheumatologists and just started with a neurologist. It's been beyond frustrating and I'm becoming physically and mentally depleted myself, caring for my daughter while she's in constant pain. We can't go on like this. I'm very concerned not only for Megan's constant physical pain, but also her mental state. We need someone who can help us navigate this mess and get her the help she needs. It's been 7 months. In this photo, Megan is smiling, but my girl doesn't smile very often these days. I need to add that her health insurance is an HMO so we can't travel out of Nevada for health care and we haven't been able to get the answers we need.”

Many of our mutual, former co-workers have reached out and asked, “How can we help?” Well, after much convincing, Carole agreed that using this platform would be a wonderful way to help. The Mayo Clinic will not even see Megan without $5000 paid up front. This fund will help with medical bills that surpass what Megan’s medical insurance will cover. It will also help with travel expenses (gas, lodging, etc) when Megan is able to be seen by doctors outside of Nevada.

Everyone needs to experience peace in their lives, especially during time of chaos and uncertainty. The one thing in life we can all count on is the unconditional love and support of “our tribe”. Sometimes our tribes consist of family, friends, or both! Carole & Megan are blessed and fortunate enough to have their close-knit family and countless friends in their corner.
