Proyecto Fe 2019 Medical and Dental Mission

In 2012 our family was blessed with an opportunity to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska. Not long after we arrived, I began to meet the dental customers in the area and was introduced to a dentist who had some specific requests. He seriously needed help repairing a compressor that was located in a remote area. (In the dental world, the compressor is the unit that delivers high pressure air which drives  the dental hand-piece; one of the primary tools a dentist uses.) While it was common in Alaska to service remote equipment, I was completely surprised to find out that the equipment was actually located in San Pedro, Guatemala.  When I heard the reason for traveling to Guatemala and began to understand the needs I felt I had to go.  I was finally able to attend in 2017 thanks to the support of donors, family and friends and have been anxiously awaiting the chance to return. This March I am planning to return and am excited to be accompanied by my mother, Tamera! My mom has always led by example and taught me to be empathetic at a young age. I am so excited that she is joining me. As an RN working in the medical field I know she will have an immediate impact. Her compassion and willingness to take on any task will bolster the team and provide an awesome level of support to our patients. My goal this year is to pick up where I left off in 2017. I hope to  put the clinic back into top operating condition, service the water system and mechanical items currently supporting the medical and dental suites and do whatever is needed by the team. I spent much of my time 2 years ago repairing or attending to items that had been neglected of formal service. This time I hope to set things up for long-term success and possibly lay the groundwork for a plumbed vacuum system. All donated funds will go to help support our team and offset the travel and boarding costs for our upcoming trip in March.  Our first donation landmark is Friday, February 15th. We hope to have $2030 dollars to put towards our airfare charges.  Another $2020 is due by April 15th and will satisfy our mission expenses. Finally, we have set aside the remaining funds to purchase additional art and medical supplies to support the school and clinic. If you have any questions, please comment or reach out to me directly.
