URGENT: Please help me save my family in GAZA

Donation protected
Please help me save my family in GAZA Hello everyone, my name is Bassel ALGHARAM and I am 24 years old. I am Palestinian from Gaza and now living and studying in Belgium specifically at Leuven.

I'm fundraising to save my family in Gaza. My family is in danger. They are alone, hungry, displaced, and suffering. If the bombs don’t kill them then the famine will. I am unable to help them alone and I desperately need your help.

I applied for a humanitarian visa for them in Belgium but unfortunately, it was refused. I am now trying to raise funds for border passes into Egypt.

My Palestinian friend who is living also in Belgium has lost his entire family. He is broken and grieving, and in a grave pain of loss.

I am terrified of losing them all too, if I don't do something urgently.

I don’t want my family to be other numbers on lists, my family deserve to live, they all have hopes and dreams, please help me get my family to safety. Whatever you can give can help and we are grateful for your support.

"We are not numbers" those were that last words of a Palestinian woman before getting bombed with all of her family members.

I want to say the same as her. We, Palestinians, are humans and we too deserve life. Because we are people too, we are not just numbers.

I have lived through wars in Gaza since I was 8 years old, but previous wars are pale in comparison to this one. Nothing has been left intact.

Mothers are being shot in front of their children, and children murdered as their mothers helplessly watch. No one is safe, not women nor childrenn. There is no safe place to hide.

My father Yasser is now in a wheelchair because he was injured during the bombing of the UNRWA food warehouse in Rafah when he was doing his job and distributing food to other people there. Five of his colleagues were killed in the bombing and he got injured.

My family is still in Gaza:

My father (Yasser), 52-years-old injured during a bombing during the war, and can’t walk in the moment. He is an engineer and and has worked for UNRWA

Mother (Imtiyaz), 47-years-old has a disability and she needs medical help constantly and my father used to take care of her, but now he can’t due to his injury

Aunt (Majeda), 53-years-old who is undertaking all the care for the children as well as the adults.

Sister (Nermeen), 19-years-old who was studying to be a journalist at university before all her dreams were put on hold.

Brother (Mohammad), 15-years-old who loves karate more than anything and now is doing all of the hard tasks to help my injured father.

Sister (Lara), 14-years-old who is the sweetest soul, so kind, generous and lovely sister.

No child should be robbed of their innocent and happy years.

My mother, Imtiyaz, is handicapped and has a bad health condition and she’s not had her medication for 5 months now.

My aunt despite her having it very difficult because of the continuous bombing is still doing her best to comfort the children that everything would be okay.

Our story and why is it important:

I can't lose any more family! A bomb wiped out my uncle and his whole family.

They have been reduced to names on lists. The people named above are all I have left, and I don't want to lose them too.

They fled from the North to the South of Gaza. Initially to Khan Yunis, then to Rafah. They are in a terrible state…If they survive the bombs, they are certain to perish like many others of thirst, hunger, and disease.

Food is scarce and no safe drinking water. Decomposing corpses under the rubble are spreading disease.

My family is mostly women and children. All their houses, and entire neighborhoods, have been obliterated. They are now living in rain-flooded tents with no electricity or facilities. My mother is handicapped, and medical services have been decimated.

I regularly lose contact with them for days at a time and frantically search the lists of the dead for their names. I am living in a constant state of anxiety and fear at what might happen.

I need to save them before it's too late.

Gaza was declared unlivable some time ago. ‘Unlivable’ falls short of describing the situation there. Gaza is deadly.

How is your support going to be used?

The support will be used to pay for special permits into Egypt.

Costs have skyrocketed from the pre-war price of 500 USD, at times ludicrously reaching 12,000 USD per person. We were hoping that children under 18 would not require permits but reports from the ground suggest otherwise.

The current price per person is around 7000 USD to cross from Gaza to Egypt.

You can check this news link to get a more detailed view about the misery happening in the Rafah border crossing to Egypt and the crazy amount of money asked:

The rest of your support will be used to sustain and shelter them in Egypt until they can find work. This was the plan before my father got injured, but now the medical help after they leave is the highest priority.

Here are also some photos which can explain better than any words:

It is expected to be divided as follows:

A. Fees of Crossing Rafah border to leave Gaza and go to Egypt:
42,000 USD for 4 Adults alongside 2 minors.

B. The Sini:
2,000 USD Transportation from Rafah border crossing to Cairo. .

C. Upon arrival:
1,000 - 2,000 USD sustenance per month

D. Fundraising fees:
2.9% website fee

My priority is the 42,000 USD to get them to safety in Egypt.
The total target is 90,000 to include transport and support them until they get on their feet.

The rest of the money will be used as following:

Shelter & Accommodation: Upon evacuation, funds will be used to provide temporary shelter and accommodation for my family in Egypt. This will ensure they have a roof over their heads and a safe space to call home as they navigate their journey to stability.

Medical Care & Assistance: Given the precarious health conditions of some family members, especially my father and my mother, a portion of the funds will be dedicated to securing medical care and assistance. This includes accessing critical medications, treatments, and healthcare services to address urgent health concerns and ensure their well-being.

Education & Support: Any extra funds will be allocated towards educational support and resources to help the children (my younger two sisters and my younger brother).

How Can You Support Us?

Every donation, no matter how small, could make a big difference to their lives, especially for the children. They're the ones who are most vulnerable to the traumas of war, and every day is a struggle for them.

If you cannot donate, the next best thing you could do for us is to please share this with your friends and community. I want my family out of harm's way, we would greatly appreciate any help we can get!

With your support, we can give them a chance to escape the horrors they've endured and create a better future.

Please, let's come together and do whatever we can to help save these innocent lives from the brink of death and the scars of trauma.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting our cause.
Your generosity will make a world of difference for my family.

I wish the best for you all and your families!

Thank you again for your understanding, and compassion.
