Anna's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Kimberly, I am setting this up to help my sister while she fights her way back to a full recovery after a major car accident.

On Sunday, 09 March 2025 at approximately 6:00 pm, My sister’s life was changed forever. The car anna was a passenger in was involved in a serious accident. Anna was unconscious and had labored breathing when the officers arrived and flown to MedStar Trama Unit. Anna suffered broken ribs, contusions in her liver, lungs, fractures in her spine, brain bleeding, cuts and bruises and a traumatic brain injury. She spent over a week in ICU fighting for her life and is now set to be transported to an acute rehabilitation hospital for her traumatic brain injury.

Today, 26 March 2025, she was all set for transport to the rehabilitation hospital. This afternoon after a CT scan of her spine we were told they needed to operate on her. This was not the news we expected.

My sister is a fighter, she has determination and will excel during her recovery, I know she will. Getting her into the rehabilitation hospital is our focus and we hope she will be cleared next week after the surgery, but we have to take one day at a time. As she transitions to rehab, she will be working on learning how to do all the things in life that we take for granted, eating, speaking, walking, and even using her hands and re-training her brain. Anna is already showing some good signs of progress with holding a protein shake and her water bottle and drinking out of them. She also remembers some little things, but she is in there and will come out once she is getting the rehabilitation she needs. TBI patient can and do fully recover and that's what my sister is going to do.

Anna and family have a long road ahead, from financial strains and commuting to the hospital, making sure her cats, who are her babies are being cared for as well as ensuring she does not lose her home that she has been working so hard on, her little piece of Heaven. Anna bought her home in Leonardtown two years ago and although she does not remember right now, I know she will and there is no place like home.

Several people have asked to help support Anna during her journey, I will update this page to keep everyone updated on her progress and share milestones in her recovery. Please Feel free to write messages to her or post pictures, that we can share with her. Unfortunately, this will be a long road and a costly one and if anyone wants to donate or assist the family this page is the spot!

Anna has two cats whom she adores, her babies. Right now, we have been blessed with friends checking on them daily. We are looking for help with finding someone that would be able to foster them, if anyone is interested.

My family and I just want to thank everyone for the prayers and check-ins over the last few weeks. Please keep Anna in your prayers.

If anyone would like to make donations, they can be made either using the go-fund me or via Venmo@kimberly-hannan-2.

Thank you to all of the love and support that has been given, and we share with Anna every day when someone asks how she is doing.
