Save Our Playground

We URGENTLY need your help!!!

Big Up Communities is a not for profit charitable organisation with a focus' on providing FREE activities for young people and their families at The Stewarts Road Adventure Playground in SW8.

The playground needs some essential maintenance to ensure we can continue operating from this fantastic 'work in progress' site

We have explored so many options and tried so many temporary fixes but unfortunately the roof is past repair (estimated cost 20k - 25k) and we also need to complete essential compliance works (7k)

Our friends at London Play have helped us to fit a temporary 'shower cap' but this will only keep the water out for a very limited time.

Our overall target is £30000, we are applying for grants and exploring all avenues but this is becoming increasingly difficult and unfortunately time is not on our side. So we are asking for the community to pull together and help us raise the £7000 needed to get the ball rolling.

We have HUGE plans for the playground including refurbishment of the upstairs area's and adaptions to make it a fully accessible and sustainable community hub but until the priority works are completed, these plans are on hold.

Although our sessions and holiday programmes are currently continuing if we dont raise the money soon, we will have no option but to close the inside area and take away many of our service users 'safe space'.

We are putting the bat call out in the hope that once again...the community will rise up and help us to jump this hurdle so we can get on with doing what we do best, supporting the local community.

We know better than most that times are hard for so many right now, but that is why it is so important that the playground stays open and offers free, fun activities and food to our young people and their families.

Together the initial target of £7000 is more than achievable. If 70 people donate £10 and ask 10 of their friends/family to do the same we will have enough to get the ball rolling.
