Moving Mike Redmond

On October 17th Mike was taken by ambulance to North Okaloosa Medical Center. He was not able to keep his balance and continued to battle nausea and had extremely high blood pressure. He was admitted that evening to ICU. There were multiple tests ran trying to determine why his blood pressure was not controllable. We discovered the following morning that after several CT scans he had an infarction showing. The neurologist we met with was very difficult to understand and we gathered very little information. What we did know was he had fluid on his brain, and had a stroke of some sort.

On October 19th he was transferred to the stepdown unit and we were told that he would need rehabilitation because of the stroke. We still were unclear the severity of what we were dealing with.

He did well after being on the step down floor. He was transferred on the 21st to a regular room.

The suggestion was made that he go to an inpatient facility for rehabilitation.

On Thursday evening he went to Healthsouth Rehabilitation center in Panama city,Fl.

He has had very aggressive therapy since arriving. He has PT, OT and Speech.

His strokes were in the brainstem bilateral. His left side has been affected and his balance, vision, gastrointestinal tract, constant nauseaus, and temperature. The brainstem also affects the lungs and the ability to breathe on your own. We are very fortunate that he is ok as far as breathing. The main concerns are that he will have to live with the nausea forever and may not be able to care for himself independently.

My dad has always been a prideful man, full of independence. In the midst of all this he has Felicia to help care for him. She loves him and will do everything she is able to do to help him.

My goal now is to get them closer to me. We can be supportive of him and be available to my dad and Felicia. They had already found a place about 15 minutes away and I have been able to work with the landlord to push the move back.

We are trying raise funds to cover moving expenses, and also equipment that we will need for him to come home to.

Felicia has been lining up some people to help but not knowing what he will need and what will be covered can and will be costly.

If you are able to make a small donation to help us get kool-aid moved and closer to me and his therapy so we can get him up and going again that would be amazing.

Please continue praying for recovery and that the nausea especially subsides.

We love you all ! We are in the trenches with him right now. We will never abandon him.
