PSP Warrior: Coming Home (Allan Dell)

Donation protected

Meet Allan Dell. Restauranteur Extraordinaire, Proud Kinsmen Member, Community Supporter, Father, Son, Brother and Grandfather. 63 years young and has been fighting Progressive Supranuclear Palsy since 2015 .

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy is an uncommon brain disorder(only 6 out of 100,000 people are affected) that causes serious problems with walking, balance and eye movements, and later with swallowing. The disorder results from deterioration of cells in areas of your brain that control body movement, coordination, thinking and other important functions.

Progressive supranuclear palsy is also called   Steele-Richardson-Olszewski syndrome.

PSP has a death sentence which is typically 6-7 years from onset of symptoms.

Since his diagnosis 5 yrs ago his disease has aggressively affected quality of life to the point of needing long term care 24/7.
We had to make the incredibly hard decision to find full time care arrangements to suit his needs. We thought he would be safest in a long term care facility, then COVID 19 made is debut in the world which changed everything.
Now the safest place has become the most vulnerable place for him to be. We are desperately trying to run for this virus. An outbreak has been declared in his current home, 44 people and 7 deaths. We received word last night it is potentially on his floor. With the current state of his health this virus will surely take his life. Which is the reason we are trying to bring him home and care for him to the best of our ability in the safety of our own home. We have put everything into place with nursing care and all of his occupational therapy needs.

However we have hit a road block, he needs a stair lift to get him up and down the second floor bedroom/bathroom..... which we can get installed for $12,490. We as his immediate family do not have the financial ability to cover this cost. Which is why we are bringing this awareness and fundraiser to all of you.

We are looking for anyone that has crossed paths with Allan, who may have had the opportunity to have this amazing man in their lives for some reason or another. Anyone who has been affected by this disease. Anyone who has the opportunity to help us bring him home so he can enjoy what he has left in life.

Thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts!
