Dhairya Cancer Foundation (DCF) is a non-profit nationwide social organization. DCF is founded by Terisa Tamang in November 2017. It is situated in Kathmandu, Nepal. The main objectives of this organization are to provide proper care in terms of practical, emotional, and social support to people with cancer and their family, awareness program, cancer-related health camps, and information support for cancer patients.
In Nepal, most of the people think that suffering from mental illness is the same as being mad, becoming unfit to remain in society and the family due to loss of control over self, or even being possessed by a holy spirit or a black magic. Mental health issues are often stigmatized in Nepal, leading to a lack of understanding and resources for those in need. Access to mental health care is limited in Nepal, particularly in rural and remote areas, making it difficult for those in need to receive the support they require.
So, supporting cancer patients, their families, and mental illness and raising mental health awareness are noble goals. So we will offer counseling services, educate the community, collaborate with healthcare providers and schools, and organize support groups to create a space for cancer patients and their loved ones to connect, share experiences, and offer each other support.
Remember, it's crucial to have a non-judgmental and empathetic approach when providing support to those affected by cancer.
