To get a new car after my accident

Hi im Dan on Monday April 8th i was in an accident when someone ran a yield sign, and i hit them broad side. After taking it to a trusted local body shop i was told this did over $8,000 in damage to the car shifting the frame making the car a total loss. My wife works but does not drive so this is our only vehicle As i only had PLPD my insurance will not cover it. I am thank God getting my medical paid but With him having only State minimum he had no mini tort ( which would have given me $3000 to add to what i have) i just put $800 into the car 2 days ago so i only have about $1,500 to work with. Im on Disability so i really cant afford a car payment but could find something reliable for around $4000 that i shouldnt have to put to much more money into.
