D65 PTA Equity Project (PEP)

Tax deductible
The PTA Equity Project (PEP) wants to ensure that every child in the District gets enrichment experiences . . . and you can help!

Parents across all District 65 schools work to provide fundamental experiences for all our kids – field trips, in-school assemblies, school-wide community-building events, and after school enrichments. The
PTA Equity Committee – with representation from every school – is seeding a fund so all schools’ PTAs can start next school year with financial support for their students’ enrichment.

While strides have been made by PTAs within their schools to create equitable opportunities for students, PEP is working to create and implement a model that better equalizes PTA support for all students across the District. Many PTAs can afford to provide enrichment activities for their schools. Others cannot.

- 2016-2017 fundraising capacity of PTAs in District 65 schools ranged from $50 per child to $286 per child. The PTAs with lower fundraising capacity are in schools with higher needs. Nearly 40% of children in District 65 are low income.
- Rice Education Center is a therapeutic day school primarily serving youth in care of the State. This school is without a PTA to fundraise.
- Park School also serves children with significant needs from across the District. Park families face multiple challenges, making PTA participation and fundraising difficult.

We do not want a child’s address or school to determine the enrichments they receive.  This funding will first be distributed to Rice and Park, and then to other schools with low fundraising capacity and high student needs.

Donation receipts will reference Evanston-Skokie District 65 Education Foundation. Foundation 65 strongly supports the PTA Equity Project by serving as a fiscal agent. Funds raised will be distributed among PTAs as determined by PEP and will not benefit F65's programming or operations.

The PTA Equity Project includes representation from every District 65 elementary and middle school, along with teacher, principal, Foundation 65, and PTA Council representation.

The PTA Council is the umbrella association for all school PTAs in District 65.

Foundation 65 is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Evanston that will serve as fiscal agent for the PTA Equity Project.
