Donation protected
Manatee County Commissioner Kevin Van Ostenbridge is requesting help from the community after a late night apartment fire occurred on Saturday, November 6th. Four children and their parents were seriously injured after a horrific fire broke out in their home at the Aaron Lake Apartments in West Bradenton. All of the family members were transported to local hospitals and are currently being treated for a variety of injuries. According to Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue, 16 families in the apartment building were displaced from their homes and damages from the fire are estimated to be at around $1 million.
Commissioner Van Ostenbridge witnessed this scene first-hand when he was participating in his annual District 3 ride-along with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. He described the scene as horrendous and wants to work expeditiously to rally the community together to help the families affected. The Manatee County Public Safety Department has committed to assisting the family as well through multiple resources throughout our community utilizing the department’s social worker and community paramedic program.
Please consider donating any amount you are able to help to these families who lost their homes. They will soon have to face paying for unexpected medical bills, purchasing basic necessities, and finding a new place to live.
We have partnered with Bayside Community Church to disperse the funds raised to the 16 families. They will each be receiving a check for an equal amount of the funds that were raised. We have reached out to all the families involved and we will mail checks to those who did not prefer to pick them up. These funds will help assist these families as they have lost their homes and most of their possessions as a result of this disaster. These funds will be utilized by the families to replace their lost possessions and find another home to move to.
