Help Us Publish Tree Stories Team Roots and Rescue
Donation protected
Hi! We're Team Roots and Rescue, a Community Problem Solvers team. Every year our team picks a topic in our community that we want to impact. This year we were deeply affected by the events of Hurricane Helene. The first thing we noticed were all the trees that fell in our hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. But as we learned and saw what happened in Western Carolina, we knew we had to do something.
Trees are majestic, but when they fall, they can be destructive. How could we keep trees and people safe?
An arborist told us that one of the best ways to educate adults about trees is through kids. What better way to educate kids than to write a children's book?
We visited with kids from Valle Crucis and Blowing Rock Schools in Western North Carolina and interviewed them about their experiences with trees during Helene. We wrote our book using their stories and ideas on how people can care for their trees so they are less likely to fall in natural disasters.
We need your help! The books are expensive to publish. We've distributed books to 4 schools in Western NC, but we have a goal to send them to 30. Please help us get more books published!
