Puertorican artist with a dream
In the aftermath of huracane Maria, many of the Islands artists have been affected. It is my dream to help them by providing for them the materials they need to create. In this case that material is wood. As a woodworker I have many years of experience in this medium and I recognize the need to salvage Puerto Rico's beautiful hardwoods from becoming landfill. I would like to rescue as many trees as possible so they can be processed into lumber and wood products for artist such as: wood panels for painters; blocks for woodturners, carvers and sculptures; blanks for instrument makers, luthiers; boards and slabs for furniture makers.
The dream has already started taking shape. I own and opperate a sawmill, chainsaws and have a modist workshop. Early this year, I rented to own a four acre plot. My goal is to expand my workshop and acquire the equipment and machinery necessary for the task; to create jobs for puertorican workers; to help in the gathering and processing of the raw materials; and to build facilities for drying and storing processed lumber.
With your donation you can help make the dream come true.
