Supporting Pui-Ying Iroh Tam's daughters

Dr. Pui-Ying Iroh Tam passed away on September 23, 2024, after suffering from a stroke in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Pui-Ying had relocated to Dhaka a month prior to be the Senior Director of Infectious Diseases at icddr,b, one of the leading health research institutions in Bangladesh. Pui-Ying is survived by her two daughters, Uzoma, 15, and Akunna, 13.

Pui-Ying was a physician leader dedicated to health equity around the world; she was also, and always, a fiercely dedicated mother to her girls. Her daughters have already been through a lot of change since moving to Bangladesh from Malawi, their home of eight years, and will have to face more changes ahead as they relocate to the US.
