Pull Up! legal support fund
Donation protected
Pull up! is created to raise funds to provide legal support for any person of colour who feels they have been arrested and mistreated for a reason fundamentally related to their ethnicity.
With heightened tensions surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement, the increasing disproportionality in the policing of black youths through systemic bias, and the recent expansion of policing powers, we are experiencing increased arrests of BAME individuals in the capital.
While all individuals have access to legal aid upon being arrested, there is no support when fixed penalty notices are issued and there is a void in funding between being arrested and being charged; It is at this point that legal support is most critical to an individual’s future – and where it is currently most lacking.
By providing access to leading criminal lawyers, we can support necessary work that sits outside the scope of legal aid and proactively reduce the increasing rate of criminalization created by unfair policing.
