Pumpkin Patch Pet Rescue

Pumpkin Patch pet rescue focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation, and fostering of special needs animals with the express purpose of placing them healed and healthy, into forever homes.

Mel Lamprey  has been working for the past several years helping rescue cats and dogs.  She found her passion in focusing her efforts on animals that have been abused, injured, or born with non-typical issues.


Pumpkin Patch pet rescue was named after Mel’s first special needs cat, Pumpkin, a flame point Siamese she adopted from a shelter.  (Aka Punky, Punky-Pie, Plumpkin)

Rescuing Pumpkin really opened up Mel’s eyes to the demand for special needs fosters and rescues, without which, euthanasia is the most common answer.

Pumpkin, a chronically ill but happy boy, is now living his best life. His issues are medically managed, and he is spoiled and loved to the fullest extent (which we feel every cat deserves). Pumpkin greets any rescue he is allowed to meet with open arms (paws) and immediately makes them his friend. Pumpkin's innate and unconditional kindness is the embodiment of what Pumpkin Patch pet rescue is all about.
