Punq Noire Festival of Underground Arts
Donation protected
Punq Noire is an underground arts and culture festival that celebrates QT/BIPOC pioneers of punk. Saturated by local art and taking place on Juneteenth 2022 (June 19, 2022), the purpose of Punq Noire is to honor and spread awareness of the colorful and revolutionary history of rock-and-roll, goth, punk, grunge, and other alternative subcultures.
Punq Noire Festival of Underground Arts is founded and operated by queer Black Connecticut artists. All contributions will be used to pay festival organizers and participating artists for their hard labor. Help us manifest the festival of a lifetime! Here’s why our vision is important:
- We are providing opportunities for artists of color, queer artists, and creative entrepreneurs to showcase their artwork, gain exposure, network, and make profits.
- We are providing safe space for people of color and queer people to be punk and proud.
- We are highlighting and celebrating historically marginalized narratives.
- This festival is a proactive response to the decline in resources for local artists due to the pandemic.
By exposing audiences to inspirational performances, films, and literature, Punq Noire is an educational experience that reveals the deep, uncut, and underrepresented history of revolutionary queer and BIPOC punk artists, musicians, and creative influencers.
Intentionally taking place on Juneteenth (June 19, 2022), Punq Noire will be a space for people to celebrate liberation by participating in and experiencing the impactful, and inspirational foundations of punk while dismantling heteronormative, eurocentric perceptions of alternative subcultures.
Punq Noire is an opportunity for queer and BIPOC Connecticut artists, performers, musicians, and creative entrepreneurs to gain exposure, make valuable connections, and make profits doing what they love.
Connecticut is abundant with artists and creative entrepreneurs who employ DIY methods to reach their goals. Punq Noire is a space to celebrate innovative and revolutionary independence of Connecticut’s most radical creative influences.
