Pupillos journey to recovery

Donation protected

For the LOVE of the game.

There is NO ONE who loves the game more than Phil Pupillo.

We meet the Pupillo family over 5 years ago when our daughters played softball together. Over that time we've become like family. Phil's passion and knowlegde of the game is what drove my daughter to continue her journey as a catcher and drive an hour to  to be a part of his catching program. His passion to teach the next generation not just how to catch, hit or field but to teach them every aspect of the game while still keeping the desire to be the best they can be. This is just ONE facet of why so many kids and parents love learning and working with Phil.

We received this message last night from a heartbroken friend: "My heart and my kids hearts are absolutely broken tonight. Unfortunately, my husband Phil fell down some icy stairs coming out of work tonight and ended up severing his patella tendon in his right knee as well as fracturing his kneecap. Surgery will be the only way to fix this. It will be up to a year for full recovery. As many of you know, he is an avid college and semi-pro baseball umpire. It’s his love, and his passion and to think that it’s all just been ripped away from him not only by Covid last year but now by this! I don’t know the right words to console him as his spirit has been broken. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and Lord help me be the most patient and loving caregiver, wife and best friend he needs!"

After a night of what I can only image was filled with many family talks, tears, "What now's?" and little sleep, they were showered with love and support from all around.

After talking with Linda today, we saw this post:
"I can’t thank all of you enough for reaching out with calls, text messages etc. today. Update is that we will be having a zoom call with the surgeon at 1:45 today to figure out our plan of attack on this. Phil’s spirit is low, his heart is broken and he is completely devastated. He can’t umpire, can’t do his process serving/p.i. stuff, can’t drive etc., but I keep reminding him that it could have been a lot worse and that God will watch over him and our family. I will pick up the slack and work harder than ever before to make sure we stay afloat. His job will be to work hard in rehab after surgery and get back to life. We have a lot of amazing friends and people around us and for that we are beyond grateful. Please pray for all of us for we really are going to need it. Update on Phil......MRI tomorrow at 5:30 pm and surgery next week! May God continue to watch over him and our entire family and give Phil the strength, courage and determination to get through this."

I can't image what I would do in this same situation especially after the year we've already had but what I do know is that the Pupillo family is loved by SO many people from every aspect of life.

If you are able to , PLEASE consider donating what you can to help with any cost that may accrue during this time of recovery and rehab.

THANK YOU!
