Support Puerto Rico's 2 Man Bobsled Team 2019/2020
Donation protected
Hello!
We are a newly formed two man bobsled team from the small Caribbean Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and we are asking for some help in purchasing a sled, some runners, and help with our travel expenses and race fees. How are we looking for help? Well thru donations and/or sponsorships!
Our team is piloted by Eduardo F. Camacho, a former United States Air Force member, who has served in Iraq, Jordan and Africa. He has since been separated from the USAF since July 2017 and has been working on becoming a competitive athlete for the upcoming 2022 Winter Games in Beijing, China.
His best friend, teammate and brakeman, Angel Roman Colon, is a Technical Sergeant in the US Air Force. He and Eduardo go way back before they both decided to join the military. He is still currently serving in Florida along with his beautiful family and has been training along side Eduardo getting ready for the upcoming season and the Winter Games.
Both of these athletes will be pioneering in bobsled as they look to make history for Puerto Rico, as the first two bobsled athletes to qualify for the Winter Olympics of 2022 in Beijing, China since the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, UT. As a developing nation, we must compete in five events on three different tracks within two years in order to qualify for the World Championships and Olympics and would be very honored and grateful to pursue our Olympic dream with your help.
Competing against some of the world's best athletes as Puerto Rican's is rewarding but full of challenges. With our sights set on the 2022 Winter Olympics, we hope to raise enough money to purchase our own sled and a couple sets of runners. Sure we can rent a sled and borrow some runners from our coaches, but if we really want to compete on our terms and win, we need our own equipment. A good sled can range in cost, anywhere between $8,000 and $100,000 with used or new runners. Other pieces of equipment help make the upkeep of the sled a bit more expensive, but are an important part of the game.
With our sport not being very recognized like, hockey, basketball, baseball, motocross, BMX and other well known sports, funding and acknowledgment for and from sponsors is very limited or scarce. Which brings us to the search for assistance with travel expenses to go to competitions and training sites. Airline prices for our trips this season for the North American Cup and European Cup are as follows:
- $1000.00 Leave Pensacola, FL to Albany, NY Drive 2.5 hours to Lake Placid, NY
- $1,100.00 Leave Pensacola, FL to Salt Lake City, UT Drive 2.5 to Park City, UT
-Leave from Pensacola, Florida to Albany, NY to compete in Lake Placid, NY for the North American Cup Championship Total Cost with meals is $1000.00 January 17, 2019

As you can see, if we had our own sled, we'd only have to worry about freight costs, race fees, vehicles and plane tickets. This is why sponsors and/or donations is very important to us.
We have made it this far with nothing more than grit and our unyielding desire to win. We know we can go even further with strong support behind us, which is why we are excited to have you as part of our support team in the very near future. We hope you have a blessed day/night wherever you may be.
We appreciate your time and we hope this motivates you to follow your dreams. We are following our dreams of making it to the Winter Games in China and we know we will fulfill. Thank you!! WEPA!!!
