Purchase a Peanut Roaster for Mozambique
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Tats (like tater "tots").
I run a small peanut butter business in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique - started while I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in 2018. My aim has been to hire and nurture hardworking youths. If it weren't for their hearts, I would've thrown in the towel a while ago. (Doing business amidst corruption and poverty is not easy. Surprise.)
Anyhow, we’re currently facing a quality bottleneck, namely uneven roasting, that hinders our sales growth. The roaster we use is a spinning, hot drum that can't roast peanuts evenly, resulting in inconsistent batches. This has prevented us from entering large supermarkets. This is where I need your help.
Commercial peanut butter factories use a convection roaster that allows for precise and even roasting. And, it's expensive. The small-scale one that we need costs around $30,000 landed from South Africa. I have one year left to bring this business out of the red - we're at 60% of required sales volume - so that it can sustain itself after I return to the States. And the key to there is this convection roaster.
We would greatly appreciate any amount of contribution, and please reach out to hear how we are doing! Thank you so much.
