P.U.S.H. For Corterious
Donation protected
Around 20 minutes after a family celebration for his birthday, Corterious, his 2 brothers, close cousin and friends went to a party where they were misidentified and met with a round of at least 48 gunshots.
Corterious sustained a gunshot wound to his head and was transported to the hospital, where he laid in a medically induced coma for over 20 days.
The doctors gave up on Corterious, declaring him brain dead and the hospital staff even requested for him to become an organ donor.
The night of the shooting, Corterious shared with his family his plan to get a tattoo of the acronym P.U.S.H., standing for Pray Until Something Happens. When reflecting on that night, the family remembered Corterious’s words and rendered it as indication that Corterious had given them an assignment to KEEP THE FAITH with him and believe that BIG GOD could do the unimaginable and keep him alive.
Along with a multitude of supporters, the family began to overflow Heaven with prayer through prayer visuals and daily prayer.
God granted Corterious with a miracle. He went from being in the ICU, in critical condition to now stable condition. He has since regained the ability to move his arms, hands and head. He is talking and recalling a few details from the night of the incident.
Due to the incident, Corterious’s mother has made the decision to take an unpaid leave from work to ensure that he receives the best care. Since hospitalization, Corterious has received multiple surgeries and is expected to receive more procedures in the future. Additionally, Corterious will be required to relocate to a rehabilitation center outside of the city limits of his hometown to receive therapeutic care and rehabilitation to regain his strength is most areas, including things like walking, cognitive memory, regular diet, etc. After rehabilitation, doctor’s plan is for Corterious to be admitted to a trauma center. The trauma center is designed to cater to the needs of those who have suffered and are recovering from traumatic brain injuries.
Doctors predict that recovery time for Corterious will be at least a year.
The family of Corterious, which includes the mother of his 2 kids, a 3 year old and an unborn, due in late December, is requesting your financial support during this time. Not only are household bills continuing to arrive but some of the costs for medical treatment are not covered by insurance.
Corterious’s story is touching the lives of many over the Carolinas. We hope to share his testimony all over the world to prove the ability of God!
When Corterious’s mother reached out for your prayers, the community showed up and showed out! We are asking for that same energy when asked for financial support. Please be a blessing to this family! No amount is too big or too small! We, the family, want to thank you so much for your support, prayers, concerns, and kind gestures during the time of our faith being tested.
As always, continue to P.U.S.H. & even after! ❤️
