Help Cancer Survivor Non Profit Musical

Hello!

My name is Jared Sternberg and I’m currently in remission from a grueling battle with Ewing Sarcoma, a type of malignant tumor that festered in the lower area of my left leg. Performing has always been my greatest dream, but when I was diagnosed with cancer last spring, it seemed like that dream wasn’t possible anymore. That’s all it was, just a dream. However, I am now incredibly proud to make this dream a reality.

My friends and I are currently in the process of developing an opportunity to create art and pursue our dreams. Our newly founded organization, “Ghostlight Theatre Company” is planning to put on a production of the iconic musical, “the PROM” to local audiences within our community of Bergen County. We are starting this company from scratch and trying to raise money to give us an outlet and create a space for young artists to produce and perform their craft.

In a world where we are constantly fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, we want to give this project the chance it deserves to be put on stage. Creating a show that highlights these important issues is not only timely but 

incredibly important in today's current political climate. We want to “BUILD A PROM FOR EVERYONE!” these types of stories are often difficult to fund in our current artistic landscape – we are turning to our community to support this opportunity to present our craft to the world.

By contributing to this campaign, you will be doing three things:

1. Allowing us to purchase quality materials to personally build our sets and costumes from scratch.

2. Ensuring we have enough for our rehearsal space, theater rental, and musical licensing.

3. Giving a spotlight to LGBTQ+ art and giving young creators a space to do what they truly love.

After finally being placed into remission, I am now able to breathe some exciting new life into this world and get all my friends together to put on the show we’ve always dreamed of! We most likely will not be making any profit from this project since we are pouring so much of our own pockets into the production, but we believe that this could be the opportunity to kickstart our theater company and pursue our dreams.
