RiseUP for Arts is partnering with several local businesses and organizations in Putnam, CT to create a public art mural that will celebrate the diversity and cultures of the community and highlight the messages of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The mural in Putnam is part of RiseUP's state-wide mural tour to paint 39 MLK themed community murals across Connecticut, one for every year of MLK's life.
The mural will be painted by local mural artist, Emida Roller with support from the community. More about Emida's work can be found at https://www.emidaroller.com/.
We are seeking to raise $15,000 to bring the mural into Putnam. The budget includes artist payment, materials and supplies, community engagement, and a community mural celebration.
Hometown Bank has generously kick-started our fundraising with a $2,500 contribution that will be matched for the first $2,500 we raise. Other partners for the project include the Hale YMCA Youth and Family Center, Sawmill Pottery, Art Guild Northeast, and town of Putnam.
This mural will leave a positive impact on Putnam for decades and we appreciate your support!
