Pupper Needs to See the Vet

Hi, my name is Pepe -- which is short for Pepperoni, because I'm told I'm a pretty spicy chiweenie -- and my parents need your help. See, this past Friday I woke up from my nap (the pre-supper nap, which is crucial to good digestion) and there was something wrong with my neck. I'm part dachshund and part chihuahua, so my folks are very observant where my spine is concerned. So far, they tell me, I've not had any of the ailments that plague my full-blooded dachshund kin, but I do have some chihuahua traits -- which is why I got the label "spicy" . . . I apparently tried to bite my vet tech's nose.

My folks are hoping it's just a tweaked muscle. But they're concerned it's something worse. I'm not a young pup. By their calculations I'm somewhere between 15 and 17; I'm energetic, still, and love to chase bicycles, fire trucks, and school buses. I also love to eat, and to play with my stuffed owl, Octavian (Dad is a history nerd). I love blankets, too.

They're not sure how much this will cost, to see my vet (Dr. Parker at Animal Tracks, who gifted me with the "spicy" descriptor). Dad just got a new position at the Night Job, and this happened between checks . . . I still don't understand money. Shouldn't you just pay for things with scritches and wags? They're hoping to get me in to see the vet first thing tomorrow, and hopefully an xray and some steroid injections will be all that's required, maybe a prescription if the arthritis in my hips has migrated to my neck. So, here I am wagging my tail (metaphorically) and asking for your help. Anything left from this fundraiser will be donated to our local animal shelter, or will be used to buy food for the same.
