Our dear Gopishwar Mahadev’s temple in Vrindavan wants a makeover, and now you have the opportunity to make this happen!
First let me introduce you to Gopishwar Mahadev. Over 5,000 years ago a Shiva Linga sprung from the earth in the holy land of Vrindavan. This divinity has been worshiped ever since as the portal to the most profound pastimes of Radha and Krishna. Most Vrindavan temples are four or five hundred years old; however, Gopishwar Mahadev has been around for over 5,000 years.
Gopishwar Mahadev is the guardian of the Rasa Lila and also of Vrindavan Dham. By the order of Srimati Radharani, all Gopis longing to enter Sri Krishna’s Rasa Lila worshiped Gopishwar Mahadev first to be granted entrance into the divine dance. Bhagavan Sri Krishna himself also worshiped this Shiva Linga.
Out of love for Mahadev, who is still among us, we are fundraising to make His temple more beautiful.
With the permission of Ram Goswami, and his daughter Meenakshi Goswami of the Gopishwar Mahadev temple we aim to fundraise for this noble cause.
To refurbish the sanctorum where Gopishwar Mahadev resides, we need to fundraise £44,000.
The reburbisment plan will follow two phases:
Phase 1: White marble floors, walls and ceiling - £35,000
During this phase, the floor, walls and ceiling will be changed to the best quality spotless white marble from Rajasthan. The marble on all four walls will be carved with beautiful designs, and the ceiling will display the Rasa Lila of Sri Krishna.
This cost will also cover installation, carving, drain replacement and electrical installation wiring.
Phase2: Temple refurbishment - £9,000
The remaining money will be used for refurbishing the hall surrounding the temple room of Gopeshwar Mahadev. The marble floor will be polished and the steel bars on the windows will be replaced with Jaipur red stone that matches the original building.
